Chateau de La Napoule- Mandelieu: La Napoule is located on the Mediteranian sea with beach access on both sides, in the charming little village of Mandelieu and is easily accessed by train, bus or taxi. The village has several restaurants, shopping, grocery, a Wednesday market and most anything you would need while there. Mandelieu is 30 min from the Nice airport and close to many art cities/villages including Antibes which is part of "The Painters Trail", where many impressionists painted their famous works. Also close by is St Paul de Vence. Nice also has many art interests as well. We will most likely take an excursion to Antibes and St. Paul de Vence. Other cities are very accessible by train...on your own. We will also travel by boat to Saint Marguerite Island to tour or paint. Included. Our week will follow the Cannes film festival so you may want to come early and experience that!
The Villa Marguerite: Our home for the week. A beautifully furnished, nineteenth century, ten bedroom (with private baths) villa, adjacent to the chateau. Complete with kitchen, library, and outdoor painting area. The Italianate Belle Epoque mansion belonged to the Danish princess Daisy of Pless and is only open to art groups.
La Napoule Art Foundation-Clews Center For The Arts- In 1918, Henry and Marie Clews, from the United States, discovered the dilapidated ruins and embarked on a seventeen year journey to restore the buildings and grounds of La Napoule. It is now a museum housing the sculptural works of Henry clues. See for more information.
Things to do: Paint, paint, paint. Enjoy the adjoining beach, look for sea glass (this was once a glass factory), hike, stroll around Mandelieu, hop on the local train and tour the area or relax in our own private villa with kitchen and library.
